Participation in the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation

On 27 January, 2015, at the former Nazi German concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau an event will be held in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the camp. To ensure proper safety of all the guests and visitors to Memorial on that day, the following sightseeing and amended rules of movement shall abide:

General:

1. Visitors to the Memorial Site may only use the car park on Leszczyńska Street (parking area next to the main building of the Museum). 

2. Auschwitz I site can only be visited with a guide-educator of the Museum. Due to the event taking place on this day, you may experience considerable difficulties during the tour. We kindly ask you to adhere strictly to the instructions of the museum guards, guides and personnel. 

3. On 26 and 27 January, the area of the former Birkenau camp shall be inaccessible to visitors.

4. All persons entering the premises of the Memorial shall be subject to inspection. Baggage, backpacks, bags, etc. should be left in cars and coaches. Baggage room shall be closed on this day.

5. Due to detailed safety procedures, you must carry an ID document.  

Participants of the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz:

Invited guests:

1. The 70th anniversary event starts at 15:30 on the premises of the former Birkenau camp. 

2. Persons with invitation are requested to leave their cars at the car park of the former PKS base located at Więźniów Oświęcimia Street (MAP). You shall be transferred to the event venue by buses provided by the Organizer. 

3. Access by private car or on foot to the site of the event is impossible.

4. Coaches transferring visitors from the car park at the former PKS base to the tent will shuttle from 11.00 to 14.00 (last course). After 14:00 there will be no transfers to the event. 

5. After the event, all guests shall be transported from the former Birkenau camp to the car park at Więźniów Oświęcimia Street. 

Spectators (persons without invitations):

1. Private individuals and organized groups without invitations, who wish to participate in the event, will only be able to enter the BI sector of the former Birkenau camp. The event will be broadcast on a big screen.  

2. Arrival after 14:00 may result in difficulties getting to sector BI. 

3. Guests entering the camp shall be subject to inspection. Please leave large bags in cars or coaches.

4. Private individuals (sector for spectators BI) are asked to leave their cars at the parking area of the former PKS base on Więźniów Oświęcim Street (MAP). You will be transferred to sector BI by coaches provided by the Organizer. There will be no pedestrian and car access to sector BI. 

5. Coaches transferring private persons to sector BI from the former PKS car park will shuttle from 11:00. During the event, you may leave the sector without re-entry.  

6. Organized groups wishing to participate in the event (sector for BI spectators) are kindly asked to get a special permits allowing for passage into the Museum’s car park located at Stanisława Leszczyńska Street. Then passage is possible at Kombatantów Street, where you will find the entrance to the sector for spectators. After dropping off the group, coaches shall return and wait until the end of the event at the Museum's car park on Stanisława Leszczyńska (MAP). Buses without permits shall not be allowed to enter Kombatantów Street.

7. Upon the commencement of the event, persons who leave spectators sector BI shall not be allowed to re-enter.

8. Upon the conclusion of the official part of the event, persons in sector BI may approach the monument and pay tribute to the victims. The passageway to the monument is located behind the screen, on which the celebration will be broadcast.

NOTE:

1. When planning your arrival time, please take into account the need to pass through the security check and numerous traffic problems during the trip. All persons and organized groups wishing to participate in the celebration at the BI section are requested to arrive no later than 14.00.

2. Due to the large number of invited guests, groups and persons wishing to participate in the celebration are warned of possible communication difficulties at the end of the event.
